There are so many available techniques, tools, and styles of makeup that it’s tempting to go crazy and just buy them all! If you want to keep your cosmetic spending at a reasonable level, however, you need to know what is worth spending big bucks on and what isn’t. Some makeup brands and tools cost a lot but don’t really deliver. If you are going to treat yourself to something next time you go makeup shopping, here are the things you should look for.
1. Concealer
Cle De Peau has one of the pricier concealers on the market, at over $60 for just a small amount. It does its job perfectly, though, which is what you want. When covering up imperfections, you don’t want to pick up a cheap product. Look for a cream-based concealer flawlessly hides anything you want to cover up on your skin. We recommend the Cle de Peau because it doesn’t get cakey. Even close up, it looks great.
2. Airbrush
The modeling and acting industries are both well-known for their use of airbrush for makeup, although there are home kits available as well, and they are well worth the money you’ll spend on them. It takes a little while to learn how to use one of these, but once you do, you’ll never want to go back. It lasts longer and gives you a more polished appearance while still looking natural.
3. Foundation
Foundation purchases can add up, since you use it every time you put on makeup, but there’s a noticeable difference between $10 foundation from a drug store and $70 foundation from a makeup counter. Keep in mind as well that nicer brands last longer, since you can get more adequate coverage with less of the product.
4. Lipstick
You don’t need to have a huge variety of lipstick colors at your disposal, so you can afford to splurge on some of the nicer ones. High-end lipsticks set color faster, last longer, and give a luscious creamy look to your lips. Choose a few colors that you can wear throughout the year. You can coordinate them with seasonal outfits if you choose.
