The Cabot Trail, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia
The Cabot Trail is 185 miles of beautiful coastal roads with spectacular cliffs, gorgeous beaches and a journey through the Cape Breton Highlands; therefore, this is surely one of the world’s most scenic drives. This circular route takes you past four bodies of water: the Atlantic Ocean, Bay of Fundy, the Northumberland Strait and the Gulf of St. Lawrence, which makes Cape Breton Island easily accessible by land, sea or air.
Montreal to Quebec City
Whilst the opportunity presents itself to make this a quick trip down the highway, you can take the scenic route through the historic towns with their unique shopping districts, and the lush wineries. Leave the cosmopolitan Montreal behind and head east through the fertile lands of the Richelieu River Valley. Here you enter Quebec’s wine, maple and apple country – be sure to follow the Cider Route. The Eastern Townships provide bustling European inspired towns ripe for exploration.

Vancouver to Tofino British Columbia
Take the ferry to Nanaimo before you head out on the Pacific Rim Highway through temperate rainforests that provide you with stunning vistas of mountains and lakes before you hit the coastline. If you are lucky, and keeping a keen eye out, you may just spot some bears and their cubs before you hit the chilled-out surfing capital of Tofino.
This route is just under 200 miles, so allow a couple of days to make the most of the trip.
The Sea to Sky Highway
From Vancouver to Whistler it’s about two hours’ drive, but what a drive it is. Designated as ‘The Cultural Journey’ to the celebration of the region’s First Nation history, this stretch of road winds between mountains and ocean with landscapes that take your breath away. Not only is the route so beautiful, but it takes you right to the area’s principle tourist sites: the Brandywine Falls, Lynn Canyon Park & Suspension Bridge, and the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish.
Whichever route you choose to take, you will be blown away by the landscapes that are before you. There is nothing as humbling as being within an area of outstanding natural beauty and to such a great scale.
