It’s clear to most people that there is a direct connection between your food and your health. Consider food as the fuel that keeps your body running. If you provide it with high-quality foods, it’ll run better than it will on junk food. Here are a few tips on how to keep your food healthy, tasty & fun:

1. Vegetables
Your body needs vegetables. It’s a fact. There are so many benefits of incorporating lots of vegetables into each meal. A green, leafy vegetable like kale is an excellent source of Vitamins A, C and K. You can easily steam a handful of kale, squeeze a little bit of fresh lemon juice on top and serve it as a side dish at dinner time. When you’re making your morning omelet, chop up some sweet peppers and add it to the mixture. Even when it’s time for a snack, grab a pack of baby carrots and celery. Dip them into a deliciously-flavored hummus for a guilt-free and nutritious snack. This vegetable snack will definitely keep you fuller for longer.

2. Fruit
There’s nothing like a cool and refreshing piece of fruit on a hot summer day. Many fruits have a high water content, so they’re naturally hydrating. For breakfast, enjoy a clementine and a few strawberries on the side. As a snack, consider an apple. Apples can be very sweet and satiating. If you don’t like apples on their own, dip them in a little peanut butter. Consider purchasing a soft-serve maker. In that case, you can enjoy a blend of your favorite fruits for a sweet dessert. Throw in a mango, a few pineapple cubes and a banana for a delicious blend. Just remember that fruit is high in sugar. Even though the sugar is natural, you still want to keep an eye on the amount.

3. Nut, Seeds and Grains
Unless you have an allergy, it’s wise to incorporate nuts, seeds and grains into your diet. They are excellent for fiber content and nutrition. You can enjoy oatmeal for breakfast. Add chopped almonds and bananas as delicious and healthy toppings. If you like green smoothies, add hemp seeds and flax seed meal to the mix. You’ll get the health benefits through a tasty drink. In her book, “The Big Fat Surprise”, Author Nina Teicholz encourages the use of dairy, meats and butter. In this case, some melted butter will go perfectly on top of toasted whole-grain bread. If you enjoy turkey sausage and scrambled eggs, this can make a great Sunday morning breakfast.
