I just got back from a long weekend in Italy. I must have walked 100 miles a day, lived off a diet of pizza & pasta and had so much wine it is probably running through my veins at the moment.
Here are some images of my trip:
First stop: Capri.
The terrace of our place in Capri, located by the marina.
The gardens of Hotel Luna.
Another gorgeous view from the island. Everywhere you look it is a phenomenal view!
The perfect spaghetti our first night on the island.
Caprese Cake is popular all around the island.
The gorgeous Relais La Palma.
You have to spend a day on the water in Capri. Rent a traditional “Gozzo” Italian boat with a private driver from giannisboat.com. Go around the whole island in less than 2 hours, stop at the Blue Grotto and explore the many caves and beaches. Gianni is amazing, and even does requests. Your boat can be stocked with champagne, music, an on-board masseuse and picnic-style lunch.
Next stop: Rome.
We left Capri and headed to Rome for some culture, history and more amazing Italian food. We stayed at the gorgeous Hotel Splendide Royal, which has a great location, just down the street from the Spanish Steps. After checking in to our suite, we headed out to explore.
The Hotel Splendide Royal is home to Mirabelle Restaurant, with lovely views of the entire city as well as The Vatican.
We spotted the Museo Leonardo Da Vinci in one of the squares, and had to stop in to take a look at the interactive museum.
Of course no trip to Rome is complete without a stop at The Coliseum…
…or The Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel.
Last stop: Florence.
Florence was a whirlwind of The Boboli Gardens, several apertivo stops, a walk over the Ponte Vecchio and dinner. The hotel we stayed at was Ferragamo-owned Lungarno Hotel, and the 2-story suite not only had a gorgeous view of the water, but over 400 pieces of original artwork including a Picasso in the lobby.
The view from the Boboli Gardens.
Apertivo stop #1: Harry’s Bar.
Apertivo stop #3: The Westin.
And that, my friends was a quick overview of my long weekend in Italy. If you have any questions or comments, please leave them below!
