While there are people who don’t care how they appear to others, there are also those that do. Life takes us in many directions, and the diagnosis of cancer is unfortunately one of those paths that too many of us have to travel. But looking your best while undergoing chemotherapy treatment may prove a challenge as the procedure is very taxing on our body, and the side effects are many. Hair loss is one of the more common changes that can rear its ugly head while the chemo progresses, but it’s also highly rectifiable.
When you start losing your hair there are only two practical options: shave your head or buy a human hair wig or synthetic hair wig; Ellen Wille Wigs, for example, offer great variety in high-quality style, length and colour . Shaving, or cutting your hair very short, is self-explanatory, but wigs bring all sorts of new possibilities for some and may require a more in-depth explanation.
A wig can be made to fit, comes in various colours (if you don’t want your natural hair colour) and can be made either of real or synthetic hair. Modern wigs are no longer stiff and scratchy; contemporary designs and stitching techniques feel as your own hair would and can be fitted to make a perfect match to the shape of your head. While human hair wigs are normally of the more expensive sort, they offer an unmatched likeness to your normal locks. It’s not unusual for friends and family to not even notice you are wearing something else than your normal hair.
If you want to keep your usual hair colour it’s recommended to do a match before hair loss has occurred. If that is not a possibility, cut off a lock from the front of your head, where the hair is usually lighter. Show this to your wig expert and they can make a close match.
In the case of human hair wigs – such as with the Zora human hair wig in the Ellen Wille Perucci Collection – you can choose a gorgeous long bob style, which by virtue of its being made from real human hair, can then be curled, straightened or worn loose and natural. You can even have your hair stylist cut and colour your wig as they would your normal hair.
It’s worth noting that you should take extra care of your wig, more so than your normal hair, to keep it in excellent condition. This will make you see your wig last a long time, and even well beyond the duration of your therapy.
