Did you make any New Year’s resolutions this year? Have you managed to stick to them so far? It’s very common for people who make these goals to lose focus and forget about the promises they made at the beginning of the year. Resolutions aren’t needed if you want to improve your life because there are many simple changes you can make whatever time of the year it is. If you want to be healthier and happier why not start right now? Money isn’t a requirement, but it will take some commitment and motivation.

  • Good Food

Talking about food can be a very emotive subject. The fact is that what you eat can have a profound impact not just on yourself but those around you. What you choose to eat can affect your general health and wellbeing, the way you socialize, what you buy, what producers produce, shops sell and the world in general

For the majority of us, eating has become far too complicated, and it can be hard to navigate our way around all the information. A lot of the time we eat things not because they’re good for us but because we think they taste good or because society expects us to. So, what can you do about it and is there a healthier way to eat?

Try listening to your body a little more because it’s very well designed. If it doesn’t feel good, your body will tell you, and you should listen. The best way to stick to your chosen diet is to plan in advance. Never go to the store and randomly pick up things because they look nice. Shopping this way is also going to save you money on your grocery bills. Another good idea is to take your time with your food and enjoy every mouthful. Always try and avoid shopping hungry, too, as this will stop you buying random items that you no longer need.

Research any new diets you decide to try. Spend long enough doing your research, and it will help you decide whether a particular diet is right for you. There is plenty of help online if you feel you are struggling with the best diet to follow or how to go about following one. • Sufficient Exercise

Being physically active is necessary for all human beings. We’re leading increasingly more sedentary lives, and it’s not doing our bodies any favors. It increases the risk of depression, certain cancers, and cardiovascular disease. The potential for developing deadly blood clots also increases if you’re sat down too much. Blood sugar levels are elevated, which can contribute to diabetes. You may also suffer from insomnia, backaches and an increased risk of dementia. These may seem extreme, but sedentary lives have proven to increase our chances of developing health problems in the long term.

Exercise, undertaken regularly and in the right doses can change your life for the better. It will give you more energy and focus.

You don’t need to spend hours in the gym to get the benefits. You do, however, need to incorporate exercise into your daily life. Enjoy a bicycle ride in a beautiful place, go on a power walk, practice your swimming technique. Workouts at home are also a good idea. Whatever you decide to do, exercise is good for you both mentally and physically.

  • Meaningful Work

We all need to work at something, and it has to be something that’s meaningful. Are you the kind of person that dreams of lazing on a beach, sipping margaritas every day? You might be surprised how soon you’d become bored with such an existence. To enjoy a good life, you have to be doing something meaningful with your time. That doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be something you love. Such a goal is rather unrealistic. What it does mean is that you have to love what you do.

We all have different interests and backgrounds, which means we can all find work which we are suited to. There are people that make excellent doctors and those that can find meaning in writing a book. All kinds of work can be meaningful when it’s done by the right people with the right attitude.

Finding meaningful work isn’t easy. You could look for work that suits your talents and interests. Alternatively, you may have to change yourself a little in order to be the perfect fit for your work.

  • To Love and Be Loved

Life can be pretty terrible sometimes, and people have to go through some very painful situations every day. However, pain can be made more bearable if you know someone loves you and you have someone to love. Spend your life giving and receiving love, and you’ll have very few regrets.

Ask a selection of people what’s the most important thing in their life and the answer at the top of the list will be family and friends. Modern life, however, tends to get in the way and we find ourselves caught up in trivial day-to-day things. Even if you’re crazy busy, schedule in some time to spend with family and friends because they are what make life worth living. Make them a priority and your life will be a long and happy one.

You’re probably thinking, there’s got to be more to it than that, and yes there is, but these are the four basic essentials. Your lifestyle can make a huge difference to how you feel and with these four things you’ve got a firm foundation on which to build. To put things simply, you’ve only got one life and it’s important you enjoy it, make it productive, live and love to the fullest. Incorporate these four things into your life, make them an integral part of what you do and how you do it and you’ll feel better than you’ve ever felt before.
