Suffering from fatigue and a lack of energy can be really frustrating, especially when there is a constant need to get things done. Whether you are a student trying to meet tight deadlines, have a high pressure job that puts you under a lot of stress, or are a busy parent trying to juggle the demands of looking after your kids with working life, fatigue and a lack of energy is something that we all suffer from time to time, with some being affected more than others. We’ve put together a list detailing a number of ways in which you can combat your feelings of fatigue and boost your energy to get yourself back to normal.

Healthy Diet

What we eat has a significant effect on our energy levels throughout the day. If you find that you’re not eating much, and when you eat it is not very nutritious food, you will probably be more fatigued and not have as much energy as you would have if you were to eat healthier foods throughout the day in larger quantities. Swap your fast food for lean meat and vegetables, and snack on high energy foods throughout the day such as fruit and nut mixes. Drinking water is also important as staying hydrated keeps us energised, and you should be aiming to drink around 6-8 glasses of water per day.

Exercise

Although if you’re suffering from a lack of energy the last thing you may want to do is go to the gym, participating in regular exercise is a good way to boost your energy levels. You don’t have to start running miles or take up weightlifting, as simple exercises such as walking, swimming or even yoga are all great ways to re-energise your body as well as keep yourself in shape. If you exercise, it’s also important that your body is getting the right nutrients – so make sure that you have a balanced diet as well. Exercise is not only great for helping to boost energy, it can also make you feel more relaxed and less stressed, and gives your body and mind the strength it needs to get through the day.

Supplements

There are a number of supplements that you can get to help yourself get over fatigue and give your energy a boost, from herbal supplements that can be bought in most health food shops to prescription pills that you can get from your doctor. You can also buy adrafinil, modafinil, and a number of other supplements and tablets online that you can take to give yourself an energy boost and re-gain your motivation, although it’s advisable to be careful when buying these online and you should always seek the advice of a doctor before starting to take any medication.

There are a number of different ways in which you can combat feelings of fatigue and start to feel energised again. If you’d like to tell us what works best for you, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.
